Transition Planning for Military Families:

Our team creates a positive environment by welcoming students and families in the front office, walking students to class on Day 1, and checking in with students on transition.

Academic Planning for Military Families:

At our school, we understand that military families often face unique transition challenges. That's why we offer comprehensive transition planning tailored to the needs of military children and their families. Our Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLAC) is crucial in supporting military students. The MFLAC counselor regularly checks in on students to provide guidance and emotional support, helping them navigate the ups and downs of military life. Additionally, we host summer-time informational Student and Family Gatherings to provide military families with essential information, resources, and a welcoming environment to connect with others facing similar experiences.

Our dedicated Military Point of Contact, Taylor Boling in the Guidance Department and Ms. Sharis Robinson, Community Partnership Director, are always available to assist military families. You can reach them at (850) 767-4570.

Resources for Military Families:

Parker Elementary is a Community Partnership School. In tandem with the MFLAC counselor, the additional resources, community support, and academic enrichment opportunities provided by our community Partnership School allow for additional education and personal opportunities for families.

Student-Led Transition Team (S2S Club):

Parker Elementary has an active K-Kids chapter on Campus that teaches leadership and service. The students assist new students, welcome them to campus, and get them involved in other campus opportunities.

Support for Military ESE Children:

We understand that military children with exceptional needs require specific support. We offer personalized assistance for these students, including meetings with our ESE Resource teacher to review Individualized Education Plans (IEP). Our team is comprised of push-in academic support for academic support, ensuring that military ESE children receive the specialized education they require.

Military Recognition Events:

To recognize the military on our campus, we participate in daily flag-raising and often host Guest Readers and Elevate Bay Volunteers from Tyndall AFB. We are also involved in Panama City NSA Touch a Truck, and Veterans Day Celebrations in classrooms.

Mental Health Resources For Military Families:

We understand that the well-being of military children is a top priority. To support their mental health, students can access TRIAD Counselors, who can provide counseling and emotional support. We aim to ensure that every military child on our campus has the resources they need to maintain their mental and emotional well-being. In summary, our school is deeply committed to providing military children and their families with the support they require to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We aim to make their educational journey as smooth as possible and express our gratitude for their service through various recognition events and support services.

Any Other Military/Related Details/Programs:

We participate in daily flag raising and lowering with proper folding of the American and Florida Flags with our School Resource Officer.
